Bees are crucial to our survival!  They pollinate one third of the food we eat, that's one in every three mouth fulls. Without them, we would face a food growing crisis.

As part of enhancing our local nature, we teach both accredited and non-accredited beekeeper training courses for individuals aged 4+

Sessions are bespoke for groups of 2-10 that cover:

  • The history of the honeybee
  • Identifying honeybees and bumble and solitary bees
  • Why bees are important
  • Health and Safety in beekeeping
  • Planting for bees
  • Beehive components
  • Handling bees
  • Pests and diseases to honeybees
  • *Honey extraction

*Depending on the time of year, honey extraction may be available as part of an educational package

Sessions involve both theory & practical teaching and also come with  printed literature and online support.

Our home apiary is based at Ford Lane Community Garden which is on the banks of the beautiful
Leeds-Liverpool Canal and it is here and the wildflowers of
Rimrose Valley Park where our bees forage the most

We have other apiaries in Broad Green, Speke, Liverpool City Centre, Edge Hill, Ness Gardens, Aigburth, Toxteth and Bootle. We also have apiaries based at Sefton's libraries, a lottery funded project, Beehives and Bookworms.

For more information about our educational packages or hive set up, please Contact us

We are accredited beekeeping tutors and have recently rewritten the entire Lantra Level 1 Beekeeping course. We work with Blackburne House to deliver the accredited beekeeping course under the Bee You Project - a lottery funded environmental project under the Our Bright Future Scheme.

Some of the other institutes/schools  we work with are:

St Hilda's            Rowan Park and Rowan High           Ness Gardens
Myerscough (Croxteth Park          Liverpool University
Our aim in teaching beekeeping to young people is to break the mould of what a typical beekeeper is and has been traditionally. We want to ensure that the future of our green spaces and local nature is safe and secure and this can only be achieved by educating young people. We have found that beekeeping is one of the most effective ways in teaching about the importance of local nature which is why we do so much beekeeping!
