We are developing a brand new, unique hive monitoring project with Alex at Dynamic Devices with support from Blackburne House!
An amazing piece of tech sits in one of our beehives at the Fabric District apiary just east of the Liverpool city centre. This tech catches some incredible data like temperature, humidity and pollutant levels inside the hive. There is also a live streaming camera and microphone attached where you can watch and hear what's going on in real time here where you can not only see what the bees are doing but hear outside the hive to passing traffic, seagulls, people talking and even the reverse beeping sounds of lorries!
At the moment, Alex and I are working on finely tuning the sensors so they can capture more accurate data which can be used on a more research level with universities and with policy makers. We are only in the early stages of this and hope to make some leaps forward in how data from the hive can be used to determine level of city pollution and the health of the bees.
