Our campaign, Bee Workers to Key Workers raised over £5000! These funds will enable us to to provide Liverpool key workers with balms to help soothe chapped skin caused by PPE. We will also be teaching beekeeping to 50 young people by the end of 2020 with the aim of employing one to support our beekeeping work in 2021.
With the funding, we are delighted to employ a local young person to create our balms for key workers. We are also pleased to announce that we are working with The Gateway Collective to help deliver our bee balms to key workers throughout Merseyside.
Our balms, Liverpool Bee Balms, are created with 100% natural products including beeswax from our Liverpool apiaries. By November 2020, we will also be making other products using Liverpool beeswax such as wax wraps, candles, wax melts and furniture polish.
Our campaign was launched on Monday 10th August with the first deliveries to Alder Hey and the L6 Centre. Staff and volunteers at these fantastic places have been working through the Covid-19 pandemic by supporting the local community by helping local and regional families and individuals get through a very difficult time.
If you know of any key workers in Liverpool who have worked through 2020 by supporting our local communities, please let me know and we will arrange a batch of Liverpool Bee Balms to be delivered. Individuals or organisations such as bus drivers, vets, animal rescue charities, care home workers, food bank volunteers, corner shop staff or dog walkers!
